Dimi Barot

MD

Dimi Barot is a board-certified neurologist, sleep medicine specialist, and founder of Arima Health, a national telemedicine sleep platform providing patients across all 50 states with access to continuous, high-quality specialty sleep care. His mission is to make expert sleep medicine accessible, comprehensive, and truly patient-centered.

A lifelong resident of Virginia Beach, Dr. Barot completed high school, college, and medical school in Virginia through a highly competitive seven-year honors medical program—earning early admission to medical school directly from 12th grade.

Early in his training, Dr. Barot became deeply fascinated by the brain—the command and control center for every function in the human body. This interest led him to pursue neurology at the University of Miami, where he developed expertise in diagnosing and understanding complex disorders of the nervous system.

While neurology offered deep insight, Dr. Barot felt drawn to a specialty where he could combine scientific rigor with treatments that meaningfully improve patients’ lives. He found that opportunity in the rapidly growing field of sleep medicine. Unlike many specialties where interventions may be limited, sleep medicine offers powerful diagnostic tools and highly effective, often curative therapies. With more than 80 recognized sleep disorders—and nearly all of them treatable—sleep became, for Dr. Barot, the key to unlocking better health across nearly every domain of human well-being.

After completing his Sleep Medicine Fellowship at Yale, he returned to the Virginia Beach area to remain close to his family—the foundation of his personal and professional life. Through clinical practice and thousands of patient encounters, he became a passionate advocate for what he calls authentic well-being: the understanding that sleep is not optional or secondary, but a fundamental biological pillar influencing cardiovascular health, metabolic function, immune resilience, mental health, cognition, and longevity.

With this vision, Dr. Barot founded Arima Health—a telemedicine platform designed to make expert sleep care accessible, personalized, and sustainable for patients everywhere. By offering longitudinal sleep specialty care in all 50 states, Arima Health bridges the gap between cutting-edge sleep science and real-world patient support, ensuring that people can receive the care they need no matter where they live.

Known for his warm communication style and ability to translate complex science into practical, meaningful insights, Dr. Barot is dedicated to helping patients understand that when you improve sleep, you improve every other part of life.

Why Sleep Medicine?
