Dental Sleep Medicine Mini-Residency

Before starting the course, you must fulfill the following prerequisites:

• Completion of the DDS Foundations of Dental Sleep Medicine Course or an equivalent Continuing Education (CE) course with a passing score on the DDS Foundations Exam.

If you do not have an equivalent CE course, you can register for the Foundations of Dental Sleep Medicine Course to meet this requirement.

If you have completed a CE course equivalent, you must:

• Complete an entrance exam upon registration.
• Upload proof of completing a CE equivalent course with a minimum of 6 hours in introductory dental sleep medicine.

Please note: Access to course materials will not be granted until these prerequisites are fulfilled.

The Dental Sleep Medicine Mini-Residency is a comprehensive AGD PACE approved course that provides the clinical knowledge and turnkey workflows and materials to successfully implement dental sleep medicine screening, treatment, follow-up, and billing from Day 1.

Dr. Spooner and her team provide the resources needed for seamless implementation including team training and coaching options following completion of the course. Pre-Requisites required: DDS Foundations of Dental Sleep Medicine Course or CE Equivalent with Passing Score on DDS Foundations Exam.

Course Objectives

At the completion of the program the attendee will:

• Describe the pathophysiology and relevant anatomy in relation to obstructive sleep apnea
• Integrate aspects of the oral exam into daily practice
• Explain the differences between sleep diagnostic tests
• Evaluate sleep reports as it relates to sleep disordered breathing
• Describe the patient journey from the clinician perspective
• Identify opportunities for integration of EMR into clinical practice
• Apply collaboration skills to create business opportunities
• Demonstrate clinical acumen through hands on application of case requirements including patient selection, verbiage, oral appliance selection, delivery, management of side effects, and proper follow up.

Course Tuition: $4,500

Tuition Includes:

• Comprehensive On-Demand interactive modules providing 16 hours of CE.
• 3 complimentary oral appliances for competency cases.
• Competency case review and Hands-On 6 hours CE when competency cases complete.
• Access to course content and resources for 1 year.

Providers can charge patients for their competency cases. Completing the 3 competency cases and charging the recommended case fee will more than recoup the cost of the Mini-Residency course and will continue to provide a return on investment through the value of adding dental sleep medicine services to the general dentistry practice.
